Coffee giant Starbucks has welcomed oat milk to its menu in all of its Canadian stores.
The chain marked the launch by also introducing two new vegan drinks: Oat Latte and Apple Oat Flat White.
The Apple Oat Flat White ‘combines Starbucks signature Espresso Roast with a steamed oat beverage and apple flavors, topped with a clove-sugar topping’.
Whilst the Oat Latte, which also features the chain’s signature Espresso Roast, is described as having ‘a creamy and perfectly balanced [taste] of earthiness’.
‘The newest non-dairy’
“Say hello to the newest non-dairy on the block – exclusively at Starbucks Canada,” the company wrote on Instagram.
“Foam it. Stir it. Pour it. Sip it. Oat is here and ready to be added to all your favorites.”
Vegan milk
Earlier this year, Starbucks’ CEO Kevin Johnson said he will push consumers towards’ choosing vegan milk as part of a drive to become more sustainable.
The announcement followed a company statement that says Starbucks aims to become ‘resource positive’ – storing more carbon than it emits, as well as provide more clean freshwater than it uses and eliminate waste.
Speaking about the statement, Johnson said plant-based milk will be ‘a big part of the solution’ when it comes to reducing its footprint for greenhouse gases, water, and waste.
