San Francisco has been named the most vegan-friendly city in the United States by animal-rights organization PETA.
The Californian city is home to a variety of vegan eateries including Goldie’s Vegan Deli, Wildseed, Vegan Mob, Shizen, VeganBurg, Wholesome Bakery and many more. It was also one of the first major city’s in the US to ban the sale of animal fur.
‘Exploding in popularity’
Announcing the top 10 vegan-friendly cities, PETA said: “Vegan eating is exploding in popularity all over the US, as more people discover how it helps the Earth, benefits human health, and saves countless animals. New vegan and vegan-friendly restaurants are popping up everywhere. From sprawling metropolises to small towns…
“No matter what neighborhood you find yourself in, you’ll discover that in San Fran, you’re likely no more than a few steps away from an animal-friendly place to eat.”
Dallas, Orlando, and Tulsa, have all made it onto the annual list for the first time.
PETA’s top 10 vegan-friendly US cities 2019 are as follows:

- Orlando, Florida
- Dallas
- Nashville, Tennessee
- Washington, D.C.
- Tulsa, Oklahoma
