Retail giant Sainsbury’s will become the first UK supermarket to launch vegan BBQ ribs.
The Veggie Ribz by Plant Power are made from tempeh – which is created by fermenting whole beans – traditionally soya – with a live culture.
The Sweet ‘n’ Smoky Veggie Ribz will launch online and in 450 Sainsbury’s supermarkets from May 15.

“We’re really excited to be working collaboratively with Plant Power to bring more options to the BBQ banquet this summer,” Frankie Campbell, Plant-Based Buyer at Sainsbury’s, said in a statement sent to Plant Based News.
“We’re always looking out for new ways to pioneer with our plant-based products and are thrilled to offer our customers yet another delicious option to suit their lifestyles and tastes.”
