Sainsbury’s Adds Vegan ‘Festive New Yorker’ Sandwich To Christmas Line-Up

UK supermarket Sainsbury’s has added a new vegan sandwich to its Christmas line-up.

The On The Go Vegan Christmas New Yorker features dairy-free cheese, gherkins, red cabbage, and chutney on brown bread.

“The flavors in this year’s selection of Christmas sandwiches will transport customers straight to the most wonderful time of the year, and we can’t wait to see them widely enjoyed by Brits in the run up to Christmas,” Alex Hyslop, Food to Go Product Developer at Sainsbury’s, said in a statement sent to Vegan Food & Living.

“Our brand-new Christmas Market Sandwich and Vegan Christmas New Yorker are a must-try for those looking to get in the festive spirit on their lunch break.”

Sainsbury’s recently announced its extensive vegan Christmas menu – which includes dishes like seitan wellington and pigs in blankets.

The UK retail giant is offering these options via its ‘Food to Order’ online delivery service.

Among the dishes on offer are a Vegan No Beef Wellington, Three Nut & Mushroom Roast with Redcurrant & Port Gravy, and a Vegan Lentil, Cranberry and Almond Melt in the Middle Pudding.
