Supermarket giant Sainsbury’s is releasing a massive 25 vegan products throughout January in time for Veganuary 2019.

The new products include items from Canadian meat-alternative brand Gardein, own-brand pizzas from Sainsbury’s Love Your Veg range, seitan bacon by Upton’s Naturals, and Sophie’s Kitchen Prawns and Salmon.

They will take the supermarket’s offering to more than 100 products – as customer demand for plant-based options continues to skyrocket.

Vegan alternatives

Speaking about adding vegan options to its shelves earlier this year, James Hamilton, Meat-Free and Ready Meals Buyer at Sainsbury’s, revealed that demand was surging.

“We are seeing an increasing interest from our customers in plant-based foods, with sales of our current meat-free range growing 20 percent each week,” he said.

“We’re always exploring new ways to offer even greater choice, quality, and value.”
