Ready-to-eat vegan pancakes have exclusively launched in major UK retailer Waitrose in time for Pancake Day (February 25).

The supermarket has added Fluffy American Style Pancakes and Sweet Pancakes from food brand Squeaky Bean to more than 250 stores across the UK.

Searches for ‘vegan pancakes’ on Waitrose.com were up by 1,385 percent, The Grocer states.

‘Sweet treat’

According to Vegan Food & Living, Vegan Buyer at Waitrose & Partners Charlotte McCarthy said: “Shrove Tuesday is always a favorite with our customers and this year we wanted to make sure everyone had a ready-made delicious pancake to eat.

“Whether you have them swimming in maple syrup and ‘facon’ or go classic with lemon juice and sugar – our vegan customers won’t be missing out on their sweet treat this February.”

‘Quite delicious’

One reviewer wrote on Waitrose’s website: “Whether one is Vegan or not, just try them, as I found them to be quite delicious.

“I pan fried them (prefer them with crispy outer) and topped them with Vegan bacon and maple syrup, yummy! Slightly expensive, but worth it for a treat.”

You can buy Squeaky Bean’s pancakes, which retail at £2.50 for a 200g packet, here
