A new vegan-friendly tuna product is now rolling out into Tesco stores across the UK – in the tuna aisle.
The Good Catch brand was created by chef brothers Derek and Chad Sarno – who also co-created Tesco’s Wicked Kitchen vegan range.
The tuna, which is available in three flavors – naked in water, oil & herbs, and Mediterranean – is made from peas, chickpeas, lentils, soy, fava beans, and navy beans, flavored with seaweed.
‘Completely new development’
Speaking to Plant Based News about the launch, Derek Sarno said: “It is a completely new development of this quality for a seafood alternative to go mainstream.”
He added that as with the Wicked Kitchen range, Good Catch is made for meat and seafood eaters.
“Of course, it’s great for us veg-heads that are already on that journey, and to make an even bigger impact we develop for taste and flavor without compromise to appeal to flexitarians and offer a delicious planet-friendly alternative,” he added.
Development
According to Sarno, the product took years to develop. “Anything done right takes time to work on and we certainly had our setbacks and started over several times, we had to build a team around the process as it got closer and closer,” he said.
“It’s really exciting to finally launch something after so many years of hard work. I’m always impressed at how amazing people are when they rise to a challenge and the goal is to be of benefit to life.
“True innovation offers solutions that impact the world for the better. We cannot wait to have this available in Tesco and add to our mission to pioneer the best plant-based offerings in the U.K.”
