Plant-based brand Moving Mountains has announced its debut in Hong Kong – which has one of the highest meat consumptions per capita in the world.
Moving Mountain’s sausages – and meat-free burger, which recently outsold all meat and veggie patties at a major U.K food distributor – are now available in 14 eateries across the country.
On Instagram, the company said: “Hello Hong Kong! We are very excited to announce that you can now find our plant-based products in restaurants on either side of Victoria Harbour.”
Moving Mountains added that more locations will start serving its products in the near future.
‘Bleeding’ burger
The company’s flagship burger – which ‘bleeds’ beetroot juice – recently became available to home cooks as it launched in U.K supermarket Ocado.
In a statement sent to Plant Based News, Simeon Van der Molen, founder of Moving Mountains, said: “When we launched Moving Mountains® plant-based ‘bleeding’ burger in 2018, it was a U.K-first. Over the last two years, we have worked with chefs and restaurants to bring our pioneering product to foodies across the nation, with each venue showcasing their talents to create a uniquely delicious serve every time.
“We are thrilled to now partner with Ocado to make the product available for UK consumers to enjoy in their homes. Home-cooking has never been more important, and we look forward to seeing what incredible serves will be created in kitchens across the country.”
