Plant-based physician Dr. John McDougall has won the American College of Lifestyle Medicine 2018 Lifetime Achievement Award.
The award, which is presented by the College and the Lifestyle Medicine Foundation, recognizes lifetime achievement in the field.
It is described by the organizations as ‘the highest honor bestowed on a healthcare pioneer’, recognizing a significant body of work over a significant span of time that has advanced the field of Lifestyle Medicine, and, in the process, paved the way for others to follow.
Plant-based medicine

Diet revolution
Speaking to Plant Based News Founder Klaus Mitchell about how much progress still needs to be made in spreading the plant-based diet, Dr. McDougall said: “Change is not happening quickly enough, there is no doubt about it…
“We need the truth to get out..[we need someone] to take legal action against these people like they have against the tobacco and alcohol industries. Unless that happens and happens quickly – which I don’t really see happening – we’re not going to see the change.
“But it did happen with Big Tobacco, but Big Food watched it happen to Big Tobacco and said ‘that will never happen to us’. And so far they are right. They have fought with every…lie they could gather together.”
