McDonalds has confirmed to PBN that it will be rolling out the McVegan Burger across Finland.
A spokesperson said: “I can confirm that McVegan will be sold in Finland nationwide in all our 65 restaurants from December 28.”
The McVegan burger contains a soybean steak, mustard, ketchup, eggless McFeast sauce, tomato, pickles, onions and salad on a roll.
The report follows a McDonalds spokesperson telling PBN last week that there were ‘no plans’ to roll the burger out to any other countries.
Trial
The burger was launched as a trial back in October in a single restaurant in Tampere, Finland (see video report above).
The trial lasted until the end of November.
At the time, Christoffer Rönnblad, Marketing Director of McDonald’s in Finland, said the brand was keen to hear people’s thoughts.
He said: “We are following the reaction with interest and we are happy to receive feedback.
“That’s the purpose of the trial.”
Future
He also confirmed that the brand will continue to expand its meat-free offerings in the future.
He added: “The vegan hamburger required extensive in-house product development. The [vegan] hamburger steak is soy based.
“We were really passionate about finding a steak that tastes really good.”
PBN has contacted McDonalds for more information.
