UK supermarket Morrisons is launching vegan pigs in blankets for Christmas this year.

The ‘Vegan No-Pigs in Blankets’ are made from a blend of jackfruit and chickpeas, wrapped in a streaky pastry blanket.

The supermarket, which says the pigs in blankets work well as a starter or side dish, will launch the product in stores nationwide from November 27, costing £2.50 for a pack of 10.

Vegan Morrisons

“Pigs in blankets are one of the UK’s favorite Christmas treats, so we have created a meat-free version that can be enjoyed by vegans or anybody else,” Morrisons Party Food Expert, Leanne Walters said in a statement sent to Plant Based News.

The product joins Morrisons’ growing line of vegan options. Last year, the store launched its own range of vegan products called V Taste, which features more than 10 products, and includes two flavors of vegan cupcakes – red velvet and chocolate – as well as a number of savory dishes.

It has since added a foot-long vegan sausage roll, pork pie, vegan mozzarella sticks, BBQ Jackfruit Mini Hot Dogs, pigs in blankets, and jackfruit pizza among other meals.
