An alternative to mince – made entirely from plants – will be available in the UK from January next year.
Goodminz, created by Reroot Foods, is an alternative to minced beef. It is made from vegetables and grains.
Range
According to a spokesperson for Reroot Foods: “There are four minces in the GOODMINZ range – Green, Purple, Orange and Brown.
“Each contains minced fresh vegetables and wholesome ingredients like chickpeas and quinoa.
“The products are only lightly seasoned so cooks can add herbs, spices, seeds, nuts, fruits and flowers to make their favourite recipes.GOODMINZ is a nutritional powerhouse. Each mince contains five vegetables and is; a source of protein, a source of fibre, low in saturated fat and contains no soya.”
Cooking
According to the brand, the product can be used in place of minced beed in traditional recipes – for example, in burgers, no-meat balls, in wraps, spaghetti Bolognese and on pizza.
Plant-based cookery-certified chef – and Reroot Foods owner – Richard Reeves said: “People are increasingly on the lookout for delicious and convenient plant-based food products.
“But finding them isn’t always easy and the food values of many vegetarian and vegan products aren’t particularly inspiring for the home cook.”
“Goodminz changes all that.”
