A new vegan ‘lower carb’ pizza has launched at Waitrose stores across the UK.

‘Pitza Falafel’ by Magioni ‘has 35 percent less carbs on average’ than other equivalent pizzas, according to the brand.

The base contains vegetables as well as flour – which reduces the carbohydrate content as well as making the pie contribute two of your ‘five-a-day’ servings of fruit and veg.

Magioni was founded by Manon van Essen, who wanted to create ‘healthier pizza with the same authentic taste’, by filling them with veggies.

“We are so proud to have helped Holland to eat an extra 250 million grams of veggies last year,” she said in a statement sent to Plant Based News.

“Now we’re excited for our small brand of young foodies to come to the UK and provide an option for anyone who doesn’t want to choose between healthy eating and one of the nation’s favorite foods.”

The pizza launched on November 7 at Waitrose & Partners.

*Please note: not all pizzas from Magioni are vegan.
