An east London café will be offering free vegan cake to every customer this weekend to celebrate Veganuary.

Vegan-friendly eatery Canvas Café has gone fully plant-based for the month of January.

The Canvas will hold weekly events throughout January, ‘offering new vegans the chance to get advice and tips on their new diet, plus a personal service from all our vegan chefs who will be on hand to help answer any questions’, according to its website.

The coffee shop’s chef, Tegan the Vegan, has created a brand new plant-based menu which includes a pulled jackfruit sandwich with sweet potato fries and vegan slaw; ‘meatball’ marinara sub with fries; and not-chicken escalope sandwich with fries and salad – all available from January 3.

The Hanbury Street eatery will be hosting cookery and dairy-free cheese making classes, as well as free weekly film screenings throughout this month.

According to the café: “The Canvas will be the most approachable and accessible space for vegans old and new.”
