Affordable supermarket giant Lidl has launched a vegan skincare and shower range across the U.K.
The four-product collection titled Pure Olive features hand cream, body lotion, face cream, and shower gel – all of which are labeled vegan.
‘Beauty benefits’
According to Bristol Post, A spokesperson for the supermarket said: “All products within the range are made with organic olive oil which boasts a number of beauty benefits due to its hydrating nature and high antioxidant content.”
All products, which hit the shelves earlier this week on July 2, retail for just £1.99.
Vegan labeling
Last year, Lidl committed to labeling its own-brand vegan products following Animal Aid’s #MarkItVegan campaign – a petition which received more than 11,000 signatures.
In a statement sent to Plant Based News, Animal Aid Campaign Manager, Tod Bradbury said: “We are absolutely delighted to see that Lidl will be introducing this new logo, which means that all major supermarkets in the UK will have clear and consistent labeling for their own-brand vegan products….
“Clearly labeling products as ‘suitable for vegans’ in some way has a host of benefits: firstly, it enables those of us who avoid animal products entirely to easily find which products are vegan. Secondly, it also helps non-vegans realize how many delicious vegan options there truly are to choose from.”
