A group of leading physicians has created a plant-based challenge for Heart Month this February, Plant Based News can reveal.

Heart Month is celebrated every February around the world, and it’s a month that physicians advocate for heart disease prevention and promote heart health.

But according to Dr. Danielle Belardo, a cardiologist, the power of nutrition is always absent from the equation.

Plant-based heart month

“So this Heart Month, I’ve organized a new free plant-based challenge,” Dr. Belardo told Plant Based News. “It’s me, Dr. Michelle McMacken, Dr. Rob Ostfeld, Dr. Angie Sadeghi, Dr. Joel Kahn, and Dr. Mauricio Gonzalez.

“We are partnering with Forks Over Knives to provide a free seven-day challenge with their plant-based meal planner. None of us are financially connected to Forks.

“Additionally, Tara Kemp will be providing daily mindfulness during the seven-day challenge, and athletes Nimai Delgado and Bianca Taylor will be providing free workouts for the week.”

Sign-ups for the challenge are on February 11. The challenge starts February 18. The landing page for sign-ups is not yet live, but you can find follow the event’s hashtag #plantbasedheartmonth in the meantime.
