A Las Vegas steakhouse has launched a vegan menu in order to meet growing customer demand.

Executive Chef Doug Zuk at Hank’s Fine Steaks & Martinis created the dishes after a slew of diners requested non-meat meals.

He told local vegan media outlet Vegans, Baby: “We wanted to be able to comfortably accommodate all the guests’ dietary requests with something more than a plate of steamed veggies or veggie pasta.”

‘Love to cook’

The menu, which is set to change every few months, currently offers dishes like mushroom ‘calamari’ and savoury quinoa cake.

Zuk’s affinity for food made the challenge an easy one, according to the chef who said: “It was not very hard for me and my chef team to tap into our skills on this menu, because we love to cook.”

He added that they will be looking at expanding the repertoire, saying: “Now we want to take on new challenges like oil free, so stay tuned.”
