KFC has denied rumors that it is opening a vegan restaurant in the UK.

The speculation was prompted by a sign attached to a lamp post in the Oxfordshire town of Abington.

The sign featured KFC’s logo, and the words: “Climate change means a dietary change, KFC knows best.”

‘Fake news’

“Fake news…we’re flattered at the enthusiasm but the poster wasn’t us,” said a spokesperson from KFC. “We’ll always be KFC not KFV!”

While the sign may be fake news, the fast-food giant has recently trialed vegan options in both the UK and US.

The Imposter Burger was trialed in some UK branches this Summer – selling out in days.

Some weeks later, the chain partnered Beyond Meat to trial plant-based fried chicken in one Atlanta outlet, creating queues around the building, and selling out within hours.
