A vegan cafe in Newcastle under Lyme is offering a burger so spicy customers must sign a waiver before eating it.

Cafe owner Paul Holloway created the ‘Grim Reaper’ which is reportedly 400 times hotter than a jalapeño pepper.

The sandwich, available from Heavenly Free From Foods on Merrial Street, clocks in at 2,000,000 Scoville units and contains four chillis.

Vegan challenge

Holloway has created the ‘Grim Reaper Challenge’ in a bid to promote the burger – but no one has completed it yet.

“People are frightened of it to be honest. No-one’s done it yet. One guy came close – he had a chicken nugget-sized piece left but he hit a wall and couldn’t take it,” he told Stoke On Trent Live.

“It is a brutal burger. I have to cook it with a mask on, gloves on and safety glasses. I got some of the mix on my wrist once and it burned for 24 hours. It’s not to be trifled with. It’s like a volcano going off inside your body.”
