A plant-based diet leads to weight loss, glowing skin, and increased libido, according to a new study.
The data comes from a 2,000-person poll conducted by UK health store Holland & Barrett.
Plant-based health benefits
It found 41 percent of participants went vegan for the health – and that more than one in 10 adults agreed that COVID-19 made the lifestyle ‘more appealing’.
Moreover, nearly half of the respondents say they lost weight. Six in 10 say they lost weight in the first free months of making the switch.
A third of men and almost a quarter of women also saw a boost in their libido. While nearly half (47 percent) say they noticed ‘glowing or cleared up skin’.
‘Huge increase in traffic’
Karl Thomas is Holland & Barrett’s Trading Director for Food. In a statement sent to PBN, he said veganism is a ‘trend that’s also reflected in what customers are searching for’.
“Throughout 2020 and January 2021, we’ve seen a huge increase in traffic and questions from customers searching for easier ways to go vegan,” Thomas said.
“In our research, one in 10 of those asked said they’d be willing to try Veganuary. But, almost a quarter said that lack of choice could put them off the lifestyle change.
“We’ve introduced our Vegan Uncovered hub to support people who are wondering what to eat, how to meal prep, and where to get all their proteins and essential nutrients for a healthy vegan lifestyle.”
