UK chain Harvester is launching a new limited edition vegan menu across its 200 outlets this January – with plans to make the new additions permanent if they are popular.
According to Harvester, the launch ‘marks the first time a major national restaurant brand of this kind (casual dining) and size has launched such an extensive vegan offering’.
The menu features five vegan mains and four desserts – as well as plant-based options from its unlimited Salad Bar.
Vegan options
The menu includes Moving Mountains’ B12 Burger in a build called the Purist Burger with a mature Violife slice, baby gem lettuce, tomato, burger sauce and a pickled chilli all served on a toasted seeded bun.
There’s also Harvester’s own chipotle bean burger, called the Beyond Bean Burger, and Jamaican-style Katsu Curry, topped with breaded aubergine, sweet potato and cauliflower, with golden rice & beans and a flatbread.
The four desserts include Blackcurrant Mousse, Chocolate Orange Slice, Coconut and Black Cherry Rice Pudding, and the Harvester Sundae made with scoops of non-dairy vanilla ice cream topped with either vegan Belgian chocolate, raspberry or strawberry sauce.
Vegan boom
“Veganism is the word on everyone’s lips at the moment, making January the perfect time to extend our vegan and vegetarian menu,” Anneli Fereday, Marketing Manager at Harvester, said in a statement sent to Plant Based News.
“With nearly 200 Harvester restaurants across the UK, we are making vegan and vegetarian dishes more accessible to everyone, so we’re really excited to hear what everyone thinks about our new dishes.”
Prices start at £6.99 for vegan mains and £3.99 for desserts, all available now.
