Warner Bros. has launched a vegan version of its iconic butterbeer in the U.K.

The butterscotch flavored drink, which was created by the ‘Harry Potter’ franchise, originally contained a whipped topping that is unsuitable for vegans and cannot be removed. Butterbeer in the U.S still contains dairy.

Vegan butterbeer is now available to order directly to your own home, or from Warner Bros. Studio Tour London and Platform 9 3?4 Shops at London King’s Cross, as well as Heathrow and Gatwick Airport* – retailing at £4.95 for an individual bottle or £12.95 for a four-pack.

‘Wizarding World enthusiasts’

The launch follows an online petition created by The Protego Foundation calling on Warner Bros. and Universal Studios to veganize its butterbeer.

The petition, which has exceeded 7,500 signatures, cites the ethical and environmental impact of dairy products as reasons for the companies to stop using cow’s milk.

Tylor Starr, President, and co-founder of The Protego Foundation said: “Mother cows and Wizarding World enthusiasts alike can now say ‘cheers’ to a dairy-free Butterbeer that doesn’t contribute to the cruel separation of baby cows and their mom…

“We are so thankful to Warner Bros. and everyone else involved for creating this vegan Butterbeer option for Potter fans.”

*According to reports, Gatwick Airport’s Harry Potter store is currently closed due to Covid-19
