High street bakery Greggs is set to launch a vegan steak bake ‘very soon’, according to Vegan Food UK.

Vegan Food UK is an online organization sharing vegan food news, reviews, vlogs, and more. It operates across multiple social media platforms, with a Facebook group, Facebook page, YouTube channel, and Instagram account.

According to the group, the high street bakery is planning to release the savory pastry within weeks.

Vegan Greggs

Greggs has already enjoyed enormous success with the launch of its vegan sausage roll earlier this year, with the release going viral, prompting share prices to surge.

In August, Greggs boss Roger Whiteside revealed that the chain was working on animal-free alternatives to its most popular offerings in an interview with LBC radio station.

Vegan versions

“We are working away to see if we can come up with a version of all our bestselling lines because people want vegan options,” Whiteside told LBC host Nick Ferrari.

“If we can produce something that tastes just as good as the meat version, then that will sell very successfully.

“That’s what’s been shown with the vegan sausage roll.”
