Greggs has revealed it is working on vegan versions of all its bestselling products.
The high street bakery launched its vegan sausage roll on January 3 in 900 of Greggs‘ 1,800 stores. The bakery later revealed that the product would be rolling out across all of its UK outlets, after selling out nationwide.
As big as the roll…
Now Greggs’ chief executive, Roger Whiteside has revealed in an an interview with LBC radio station earlier today that the company’s innovation team has plans for a new product he said will be as big as the vegan sausage roll – but he would not be drawn on what it is.
He said: “That would be giving away everything to our competitors.”
Greggs’ popular products include its flagships pies including the steak bake and cheese and onion pasty.
Vegan versions
“We are working away to see if we can come up with a version of all our bestselling lines because people want vegan options,” Whiteside told LBC host Nick Ferrari.
“If we can produce something that tastes just as good as the meat version, then that will sell very successfully.
“That’s what’s been shown with the vegan sausage roll.”
