French supermarket chain Carrefour has started selling vegan Gardein products.

According to a PBN reader in France, products including ‘beefless ground, mandarin orange chick’n, fishless filets, and 7 grain chick’n’ became available earlier this week.

The supermarket started trialing the products at the end of last year.

‘Fastest growing’

A social media post by French food group Oui Foods said: “Exclusively in your Carrefour stores is the fastest growing meat brand in the world.

“Tasty dishes without meat that please all.

“Do not hesitate to request your closest store starts stocking the products if you can’t find them.”

Range

According to Gardein, the range offers ‘meaty’ textures and flavors – making it attractive for omnivores, flexitarians, veggies, and vegans.

A spokesperson said: “It’s made from soy, wheat and pea proteins, vegetables and ancient grains (quinoa, amaranth, millet, and kamut).

“Gardein is easy to digest and free of cholesterol, trans, and saturated fats.

“The majority of Gardein foods are a good source of fiber and low fat too. Gardein is also animal and dairy-free.”
