Chain eatery Freebirds World Burrito has rolled out Beyond Meat’s pea-based protein in all its 73+ outlets across the US.

According to a press release, the vegan ‘meat’ – which can be used in burritos, tacos, nachos, quesadillas, bowls and salads – will launch on July 16.

The brand says the partnership with Beyond Meat is a result of growing consumer demand for plant-based protein options.

Veggie Grill

This is one in a long line of recent partnerships for plant-based tech startup Beyond Meat. This week, the company launched a new, limited edition Spicy Sicilian Sausage Sandwich in Veggie Grill. Its burgers can be found in numerous outlets including TGI Fridays, and currently Honest Burgers in London’s Kings Cross.

In a bid to meet this growing demand, Beyond Meat has scaled up production, to produce triple quantities.

Mark Nelson, COO & CFO at Beyond Meat, said: “This expansion in our production capacity will help us to meet the considerable increase in market demand we have seen for our new and innovative product offerings. Our expanded 100,000 square foot manufacturing footprint will provide the scale we need to service our rapidly growing retail, foodservice and international customer base.”
