Ex England Rugby Union player Ben Cohen’s life has been saved by his plant-based diet, according to girlfriend Rihanoff.

Kristina Rihanoff, who is a professional dancer, has claimed that a vegan diet has saved his boyfriend’s life, who nearly died over the summer after contracting glandular fever.

Speaking on TV talk show ‘Lorraine’ today, Rihanoff revelead that they are both plant-based now, after Cohen’s health scare.

Illness

The 40-year-old ex-‘Strictly Come Dancing’ professional told the hosts that during his suffering, Cohen wasn’t himself.

She said: “It’s been terrible. But he was getting really, really bad, day after day and at some point he said, ‘I can’t breathe, I can’t breathe. I feel like something is going on with my heart’.”

“He got to the doctors and the doctors got him to A&E right away and they said if hadn’t come on time basically he would have been really, really bad.”

Plant-based

Rihanoff said on TV that she and Cohen switched to a vegan diet together, in a bid to ‘rebuild his diet’.

“We’ve been a month on the vegan diet, and it’s been amazing,” Rihanoff said.

“He went straight into the gym three days after being vegan.”
