Vegan snacks made from popped lotus seeds are launching in several UK retailers.

Native Snacks has launched a major rebrand and secured listings in Sainsbury’s, Holland & Barrett, and Ocado for its Super Street Snacks range of Popped Lotus Seeds.

‘Light as popcorn’

The snacks come in three ‘classic’ flavors: Sea Salt & Vinegar, Sweet Chilli, and Sea Salt & Pepper.

They’re described as being ‘light as popcorn’ and ‘as crunchy as a crisp’. The vegan and gluten-free snacks are less than 90 calories per pack, contain 60 percent less fat compared to regular fried crisps, and are packed full of plant-based protein.

The launch of the Super Street Snacks range of Popped Lotus Seeds taps into the burgeoning demand for innovative bagged snacks, in a category now worth £77.2 million, an increase of 27.5 percent year on year.

The company is increasing its distribution by 1,500 percent. This is a result of its Sea Salt & Vinegar and Sweet Chilli Popped Lotus Seeds launching in 550 Sainsbury’s Local stores and its full range launching onto Holland & Barrett online, Ocado, and other new retail partnerships.

‘Unique’ ingredients

Charlie Bowker, co-founder of Native Snacks said: “Native Snacks’ 1,500 percent increase in distribution and rebrand is enabling the business to rival mainstream players in the snack category.

“Our retail partnerships with Sainsbury’s, Ocado, and Holland & Barrett, will enable more shoppers than ever before to access our Super Street Snacks, whilst our repositioning creates a consistent brand across all consumer touchpoints in an increasingly competitive market.

“Native Snacks’ mission is to harness the power of street food in every one of our packs of Super Street Snacks.  We use superfood  base ingredients that are super good for you and pair them with flavors that are right up consumers’ street.”
