Europe’s ‘fastest-growing’ vegan meat brand has seen its turnover triple despite setbacks caused by COVID-19.

Heura says it finished 2020 with a turnover of €8,000,000 – a significant increase compared to the year before (€2.5 million).

In addition, the vegan meat brand has doubled its presence and is now available in 13 countries around the world.

‘Protecting our environment’

Marc Coloma is the co-founder and CEO of Heura. In a statement sent to PBN he said: “Our latest financial figures show how the companies of the future will be mission-driven.

“Having a purpose bigger than ourselves encourages the continued strong growth of Heura and cements our position as Europe’s fastest-growing plant-based meat brand.

“As a company whose mission is to change the way we eat for the better, far more important is what these numbers represent in terms of protecting our environment and avoiding the slaughter of animals.”

“As we head towards our fourth year, we are proud of how far we’ve come and look forward to creating even more positive change in the years to come.”

‘Worlds healthiest burger’

Last year, Heura unveiled what it describes as the ‘world’s healthiest burger’.

Its new Heura Burger 2.0 has 64.25 percent less fat than a traditional beef burger. Also, it ‘contains 85.6 percent less saturated fat than beef, and has 11.3 percent more protein per calorie’.

It says its patty offers the ‘meaty and juicy experience of an animal burger with only 6.5 grams of fat’.
