UK supermarket chain Morrisons has unveiled its extensive vegan Christmas party range, featuring ‘no-pigs in blankets’.
The retailer has also debuted ‘no-prawn tempura’ and ‘no-duck spring rolls’ across the country today. They’re priced at £2.50 for a pack of 10.
Reports say the supermarket has been working on the recipes since the start of this. year, and have spent hours ‘fine-tuning their flavor, juiciness, and crispiness’ to make them as realistic to their meat counterparts as possible.
‘Vegan twists’
According to Kent Live, buying manager at Morrisons Tom Coldman said: “They say if it looks like a duck, swims like a duck, and quacks like a duck, then it probably is a duck… well not this year at Morrisons.
“We’ve listened to our customers who told us they want to see more choice through the festive season and look forward to seeing these vegan twists on plates up and down the country this year.”
Vegan donuts
Last month, Morrisons added vegan Christmas donuts to its plant-based offerings, priced at just 10p each.
The gingerbread treats, which are already available in 400 stores nationwide, contain a ‘rich and comforting ginger cream custard’ made from spices including cinnamon, nutmeg, and star anise.
Bakery Buyer Andy Clarke said the supermarket created the donuts after witnessing ‘gingerbread lattes going down a storm’, adding: “Customers say our filled donuts are the best ‘accidentally vegan’ donuts they’ve found. We’ve made sure that this recipe is no exception.”
