Hellmann’s UK has announced the launch of its new bacon-flavored mayonnaise.

The food giant is also adding chipotle and garlic vegan mayo to its plant-based offerings in time for Veganuary 2021.

The spreads will be available nationwide from Ocado, Amazon Fresh, and Asda retailers, retailing at £2.50 per jar.

Hellmann’s announced its ‘Baconnaise’ after commissioning a survey that revealed 84 percent of Britons self-identify as bacon-lovers. A third of participants also said bacon has ‘tempted them to break their Veganuary vow’.

‘Bacon cravings’

According to Wales Online, senior marketing manager at Hellmann’s UK & Ireland Rachel Chambers said: “We know just how bacon-hungry our nation is, so we figured we couldn’t hide this one from our British fans any longer…

“We’re like pigs in mud with our new Baconnaise, and the just-as-tasty Chipotle and Garlic spreads. We can’t wait for UK consumers to taste it for themselves – especially at a time when the bacon cravings might be hitting the most.”

Vegan Mayo

Hellmann’s UK debuted its first vegan alternative to mayonnaise back in 2018 – in response to the increasing demand for plant-based products.

The product is soya bean oil-based, and uses maize starch instead of eggs – it is also free from artificial colors and flavors.
