Ginsters is launching a vegan version of its peppered steak slice – saying that ‘consumers want to try meat-free‘.

The pastry giant has partnered meat-free behemoth Quorn to make the new savory dish, which features marinated Quorn pieces, onions, and potatoes, in a peppercorn sauce which replaces dairy with coconut milk.

It is the third time the companies have collaborated: they have also created vegan sausage rolls and Cornish pasties, which are available in stores now.

‘Consumers want to try meat-free’

Speaking about the launch to leading food outlet The Grocer, Ginsters MD Kieran Hemsworth said: “We want to set out a blueprint for innovation and growth within chilled savory pastry.

“Consumers want to try meat-free and are more inspired to do so with a flavor they know and love.”

Ginsters’ Peppered Vegan Slice will launch in stores on October 12 costing £1.70.
