Vegan Food UK launched a photo of the new drink alongside information about its availability.

It correspondingly captioned it: “New Vegan Galaxy Instant Hot Chocolate has just launched! Now at Waitrose and Partners for £2.99. Follow us @vegan_food_uk for more exciting launches coming very soon.”

The hot drink does not mark Galaxy’s first foray into the world of vegan chocolate. In 2019 it launched a line of dairy-free chocolate bars, featuring three flavors.

These included smooth orange, caramel, and sea salt and caramelized hazelnut. The dairy in the chocolate has been replaced by hazelnut paste and rice syrup.

Kerry Cavanaugh is marketing director at Mars Wrigley UK. At the same times the bars launched, she said: “We’re so excited to be bringing these delicious treats to Galaxy’s range using a vegan recipe that doesn’t compromise on the brand’s signature smooth and creamy characteristics.

“Wherever you look you can’t avoid the vegan buzz in the UK. Even though vegan treats are currently only worth £10 million in a £4 billion chocolate market, we think that by introducing Galaxy, one of the UK’s best-known brands, there is a huge opportunity for the category to grow.”

Expanded range

Galaxy expanded the range earlier this year with the launch of two new flavors, as first reported by food outlet The Grocer.

The two new flavors included not only smooth mint but also crumble cookie.

Following news of the launches, Mars chocolate drinks & treats GM Michelle Frost said the eye-catching packaging could ‘attract new consumers to the category’. She added that the brand is ‘delighted to extend our range to offer more consumers more choice’.

Galaxy Vegan Smooth Mint and Galaxy Vegan Crumble Cookie launched in Asda stores across the U.K on September 21. They cost £3 each.
