London eatery Halo Burger has launched what it describes as the ‘ultimate vegan festive burger’.

The vegan junk food restaurant has partnered with plant-based meat brand THIS to launch the limited-edition dish.

Christmas special burger

It features deep-fried Gouda ‘cheese’, a quarter pounder Beyond Meat patty, THIS Isn’t Bacon and fried sprouts ‘oozing with Hennesy maple aioli and a dash of maple syrup’.

The Christmas special burger is priced at £11.50 and is available at Halo Burger’s outlets in Shoreditch and Brixton as well as Deliveroo and Uber Eats until December 2020.

‘Meat-free isn’t going anywhere’

Last year, Halo Burger added deep-fried vegan magnums to its menu, inspired by Australian eatery Milky Lane, as well as meat-free nuggets from THIS.

“The movement towards meat-free isn’t going anywhere. At Halo Burger, we’re expertly placed to showcase the best new food technology in a way that’s familiar for 99 percent of the population,” Halo founder Ross Forder said in a statement sent to Vegan Food & Living.

“We believe if the general public is given an option that tastes as good or better than their usual meat option, with the added benefit of fewer greenhouse gasses, less water used, and zero animal cruelty why wouldn’t they take it?”
