The Commissioner of the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has been urged to promote a plant-based diet on viagra labels.

Non-profit organization The Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine has filed a citizen petition suggesting ‘all product packaging and labeling for erectile dysfunction drugs disclose information on the role of cardiovascular disease in erectile dysfunction (ED) and the role of diet and lifestyle in cardiovascular health’.

‘Reverse artery disease’

The petition states the following notice should be used: “Erectile dysfunction is caused by artery disease, a condition that this drug will not improve. Artery disease can lead to heart attacks, strokes, and early death.

“A plant-based diet, moderate exercise, stress management, and lack of smoking can, in combination, improve and often reverse artery disease.”

Several studies are cited in the petition, including one where participants with the highest intakes of anthocyanins, flavones, and flavanones, phytonutrients found in fruit, lowered their risk for erectile dysfunction by 14 percent when compared to those who consumed the least.

‘I feel like it did improve’

Last year, Former mixed martial artist James Wilks revealed a plant-based diet improved his erectile function.

The Game Changers producer was asked by Lad Bible his experience with erectile function since adopting a plant-based diet.

“I do feel like it did improve, erectile function, but I’ve got no evidence – I haven’t measured my erections,” Wilks said.
