Global pizza chain Domino’s is to launch vegan cheese and pizza bases early next year in the UK and three other countries – animal-rights organization PETA has confirmed.

The fast-food outlet will join a plethora of pizza chains that have added plant-based options to their menus, such as Papa John’s, Pizza Hut, PizzaExpress, and Zizzi.

‘Booming demand’

Announcing the news of the launch, PETA said: “By adding vegan choices to its menu, Domino’s will help meet the booming demand for vegan food and make it that much easier to live an animal-friendly life.

“Consumers who choose to ditch dairy spare cows immense suffering on factory farms and help combat the devastating environmental impact of animal agriculture.”

‘The rumors are true’

Rachel Townsend a spokesperson from Domino’s told Plant Based News: “The rumors are true. We have been working hard to perfect a vegan recipe with the unmistakable taste of Domino’s fresh dough and cheesy goodness”

“We’re not quite there yet, but vegan pizza lovers shouldn’t have to wait much longer.”
