Pizza chain Domino’s has announced it is running out of vegan cheese in a number of stores since its launch last week.

The mozzarella – made by US company Follow Your Heart – is available in stores in Australia.

‘Big’

According to Nick Knight, Domino’s CEO Australia and New Zealand, customers should check in advance with local stores to make sure they have the vegan option in stock.

He added that the company is working to bring in more supplies.

“We knew the response was going to be big after the demand we saw for the product on social media,” he said, “but we had no idea it was going to be this big.

“We’re excited that customers love this product as much as we do and that we have been able to source a cheese alternative that vegan customers have given their tick of approval on.”

Limited edition

The cheese was initially launched as a trial, but Knight confirmed to PBN that it will be ‘on the menu for good’ once stocks are replenished.

He said: “Now it’s all about not disappointing and getting more vegan cheese stock into stores as soon as possible and rest assured that when it’s here, it’s set to remain on the menu

“When we do get vegan cheese back into all of our stores, it will be here for good.”

Facebook

Domino’s added the vegan cheese in response to an overwhelming demand to its customer survey on its Facebook page in November last year.

The brand also unveiled three dedicated vegan pizzas: the Vegan Avocado Veg, the Vegan Spicy Trio and the Vegan Margherita, and confirmed that all its sauces and bases are vegan-friendly.

“We look forward to sharing more news with our vegan community on when it is available again on our menu so stay tuned to our Facebook page,” said Knight.
