Food giant Dolmio, owned by Mars Incorporated, has launched a plant-based bolognese sauce with vegan mincemeat.

The meat-free ready meal, which features soy protein, adzuki beans, sweet red pepper, and a variety of spices, has been spotted in major UK supermarkets including Tesco and Morrisons.

Dolmio has also launched a plant-based bolognese ready meal featuring ‘delicious meat-free mince, fragrant basil, and carrots’.

‘So excited to try!’

Instagram user ‘A Vegan Called Amelia‘ posted a picture of the new product, stating: “Picked this up in Tesco because I just wanted a quick tea and I was so excited to try!

“I actually really enjoyed it, perfect for when you [can’t be bothered ] to cook or don’t have a lot of time, I just had it with some pasta from the cupboard. LOVE seeing so much food labelled vegan!”

‘Delicious and wholesome’

The brand’s product description reads: “Dolmio believes in the value of sharing a meal together. This sauce helps you create a delicious and wholesome meal that can be enjoyed any day of the week.

“Why not try adding your favourite veg, or even some chilli to spice things up?”

Dolmio’s plant-based bolognese products range from £1.50-£1.65 for a 150g packet
