Fast-food chain, Del Taco, is to offer Beyond Meat’s vegan beef in all its 594 US stores by the end of April.
The announcement follows the decision to trial Beyond Meat’s vegan beef crumbles in two Del Taco stores in Los Angeles, which then led to 14 more additional stores in California testing the product out last year.
‘Immense and exciting’
According to the Press Telegram, President and CEO of Del Taco, John Cappasola, said: “The consumer opportunity is immense and exciting.
“There is no one else doing it in our category at the price point we plan to offer.”
‘It just happens to be made from plants’
Del Taco currently offers two meat-free tacos: the Beyond Avocado Taco which is suitable for vegans, and then the Beyond Taco which can be modified to be vegan-friendly by asking for no cheese.
Its website states: “Both tacos are delicious, juicy, meaty tacos for true meat lovers with all the flavor and protein. It just happens to be made from plants.
“Some ingredients include: yellow peas, coconut oil, ancho chili, onion, garlic, lime juice, oregano, and cumin.”
