Mexican fast-food chain Del Taco is launching two new burritos stuffed with vegan mince from Beyond Meat tomorrow.
The outlet’s new burritos follow the success of its ‘Beyond Taco‘ – one of its most successful launches ever – a veganizable meal featuring Beyond Meat.
More than 2,000,000 of the vegetarian Beyond Taco – and its vegan counterpart the Beyond Avocado Taco – have been sold since April.
Vegan-friendly burritos
The new launches include the Beyond 8 Layer Burrito and the Epic Beyond Cali Burrito.
The 8 Layer features Beyond Meat plant-based crumbles, slow-cooked beans, guacamole, tomatoes, lettuce, cheddar cheese, red sauce, and sour cream, in a flour tortilla. The Cali features Beyond Meat plant-based crumbles with Crinkle-Cut Fries, sour cream, guacamole and pico de gallo salsa in a flour tortilla.
The dairy-based components can be removed to make the vegetarian burritos vegan-friendly.
‘Enthusiasm’
“The enthusiasm shown by our fans during the first weeks of our Beyond Meat offerings was undeniable,” John Cappasola, President and Chief Executive Officer of Del Taco, said in a statement sent to Plant Based News.
“To that end, we wanted to reward the passion being shown across social media and in our restaurants by utilizing our uniquely seasoned Beyond Meat recipe in two new protein-packed burritos.”
