UK Supermarket Co-Op has launched a vegan sausage roll as part of its growing plant-based range.

The new product is made primarily from soy protein, and is ‘seasoned with sage and spices wrapped in a puff pastry’.

Priced at £1.90, the meatless sausage roll can be eaten hot or cold and is suitable for freezing.

‘Jumping on board’

Popular Instagram account AccidentallyVeganUK posted a picture of the new product captioned: “New in at the co-op, they are finally jumping on board with some new vegan releases, and what a way to do it!”

One user commented: “They’re really nice and taste like classic party buffet sausage rolls.” While another said: “These are so tasty!”

Major vegan range

Back in January this year, the retailer launched a major plant-based range as the demand for vegan products continued to grow.

The range included ready meals, ‘grab-and-go’ options like sandwiches and vegan wine – priced from £2-£8.

Dishes included Mushroom Bolognese (£2.75), Thai-style Broccoli Rice (£2.00), Indian Cauliflower rice (£2.00), and BBQ Jackfruit with Wedges & Slaw (£2.60).

Vegan-friendly wines such as Irresistible Bio Bio Malbec (£7.95), and Really Awesome Wine (£8.00) were also added to stores.
