Chicago Town is launching its first vegan pizza in the UK.

The Sticky BBQ Jackfruit pizza, which has a tomato stuffed crust, will launch in Tesco, Asda, and Iceland in January, according to The Grocer.

The pie, which is topped with a range of veggies including jackfruit, will cost £3.50. It is not clear from the information available whether the toppings include vegan cheese.

The new option joins a selection of frozen plant-based pizzas currently available in UK supermarkets, including two pies from Goodfellas – the Spicy Vegetable Salsa, and the Vegan Stonebaked Falafel.

Speaking about the vegan demand for frozen pizza, Alex Brown, Brand Manager at Goodfella’s, said: “We’re meeting the demand of a huge number of people in the UK who don’t want to eat animal products, and what’s more – it’s really delicious.

“We think this new pizza will appeal to all pizza-lovers. We’ve perfected the recipe and we’re really pleased with the result.”
