A London pub has ditched all animal products and now offers a full vegan menu and bar.

The Queen’s Head Brixton has become home to Picky Wops, a plant-based pizzeria founded by top vegan pizzaioli Cristiano Vitelli and Andrea Moro, who shared their news on social media, saying: “[The pub is] going fully vegan because we are taking over their kitchen…Exciting times ahead.”

The pub confirmed that its bar has followed suit, saying: “With the launch of our new menu, our bar has also gone vegan with new soft drinks to vegan wines largers and ale even locally brewed.”

The Queen’s Head follows in the footsteps of Islington’s The Blacksmith and the Toffeemaker, which switched to an entirely vegan menu early last year.

The Islington eatery replaced animal dishes with plant-based takes on classic pub fare – from Nashville Hot ‘Chicken’ Burger to a Green Mac N ‘Cheese’.

As a result of the change, the pub reported that its sales tripled, with General Manager Sam Pryor saying: “It’s incredible. Everything we make we sell. Any increase in ingredient prices are offset by the lack of waste and we basically have free marketing courtesy of the incredibly supportive vegan community.”
