Plant-based
protein giant Beyond Meat is set to open a new factory in Columbia, Missouri to
accommodate rapidly growing demand.
Increased
production
The new
factory will accommodate increased production of existing products – including
Beyond Meats flagship product, the Beyond Burger, which is currently outselling
meat burgers at a number of California retailers.
It will
also allow the brand to expand its range – fulfilling promises made by CEO
Ethan Brown early this month.
Commenting
on the new facility, COO & CFO Mark Nelson said: “Our expanded 100,000
square foot manufacturing footprint will provide the scale we need to service
our rapidly growing retail, foodservice and international customer base.”
Job
creation
Brown
explained that the new facility – and the growth of Beyond Meat – will allow
the company to do more than increase plant-based offerings.
He said: “Our
expansion not only brings more jobs and opportunity to this special community
but also furthers Missouri’s position as a leader in the production of
plant-based meat.”
The company
currently employs more than 200 people, from twelve different countries.
