Celebrity singer Selena Gomez has scooped a major award for her vegan makeup brand.

The star was recognized at PETA’s 15th Annual Libby Awards, which celebrates celebrities who ‘push animal rights ahead’.

Gomez was awarded Favorite Vegan Makeup Line after debuting her brand Rare Beauty in Sephora earlier this year.

The brand currently offers a range of cruelty-free items including foundation, liquid blush, eyeshadow palettes, and makeup brushes.

“For the past few months, you’ve all been asking… and we’re proud to share that our products will be 100 percent vegan and cruelty-free. Like you, we love and care for our animals too,” Rare Beauty wrote on Instagram

‘Compassionate celebrities’

“These compassionate celebrities didn’t let the pandemic stop them from walking the walk when it comes to kindness to animals,” said PETA Director Elisa Allen

“PETA US honoring the superstars who are leading by example and proving that helping animals can be as simple as whipping up jackfruit enchiladas or buying a vegan lipstick.”

Other winners include celebrity singer Lizzo – who scooped Favorite Vegan Cooking Videos for her TikTok recipes, as well as Riverdale star Madelaine Petsch and actor Lily Collins.

Each of the winners will receive a framed certificate. Other 2020 nominees included Billie Eilish, Kesha, Lili Reinhart, and Tabitha Brown.
