The first vegan milkshake truck in Austin, U.S., is opening on September 9.

The Milky Way Shakes truck will be making its debut following a crowdfunding campaign that launched earlier this year by owners Moni Burgin and Rachel Horeovsky.

Over $10,000 were raised for the new business venture by the two longtime friends.

Milky Way uses coconut milk for the vegan ice cream, and almond milk for the shakes.

The milkshake truck will have six mainstay shakes on offer, including the Oreo Borealis, and the Grackle Massacre with caramel – customers can also mix and match flavors.

Burgin told local paper Austin Eater that they ‘want to fill the milkshake niche’ in Austin.

They also added that to them ‘coconut milk just makes so much more sense than cow’s milk’, citing the fact that it can be stored without refrigeration.

The founders are hoping to expand the menu in the winter.
