One Twitter user wrote: “I hear that @asda are adding #vegan cheese to their pizza counters in store soon. Can you confirm this is across the country please, @AsdaServiceTeam?”

Replying today, a member of the Asda Service Team wrote: “Good News this morning! Yes we will at majority of stores next week! ENJOY!”

Dairy-free cheese

This is not Asda’s first foray into dairy-free cheeses.

The chain will launch a special vegan cheese package for the holiday season, and added three other dairy-free cheeses in May.

The individually sold cheeses include Grated Mozzarella Alternative, Grated Cheddar Alternative and Soft Cheese Alternative – all of which retail for £2.
