The dairy giant behind Applewood cheese is set to launch a vegan Christmas cheeseboard.

The board follows the sellout success of Applewood Vegan, which sold out without 24-hours of its October 2019 launch in some stores.

According to Applewood, the board will feature Applewood Vegan, the upcoming Mexicana Vegan Spicy Cheese, New Ilchester Melting Mature Cheddar Vegan, and New Ilchester® Blue Vegan Cheese Alternative

News of the launch was met with enthusiasm on Instagram, with one user saying: “First time in my life I want cheese as a present.”

Another added: “I can’t wait for Xmas for this I need it now.”

Applewood Vegan was unexpectedly successful for the brand, with Applewood’s senior brand manager, Lisa Harrison, telling Plant Based News: “40 percent of stores sold out on the first day of sale and consumers were lamenting on social media that they couldn’t buy it, our switchboard was inundated with calls from people asking when would more stock be available.

“In fact, we had to take to Twitter to apologize that we had misjudged the demand. The demand has been so great that just two days after Applewood Vegan first went on sale our purchasing manager was desperately emailing Heather [Mills, who makes the cheese in her factory] to say, ‘we need as much as you can supply as soon as you can supply it’.”
