Affordable supermarket chain, Aldi, has launched its new vegan quarter pounder burgers in all stores across the UK as part of its ‘I Am Vegan’ range.
The plant-based patties, made primarily from soy and pea protein, contains more than 20g of protein and less than 3g of saturated fat.
Priced at £1.99 for a pack of two, the meatless burgers are also said to be ‘flavoured with smoked salt to give them a chargrilled and smoky flavor’.
Responding to demand
“The launch of I Am Vegan is in response to the growing popularity and appetite for vegan options amongst our customer base,” said Julie Ashfield, Managing Director of Buying at Aldi.
“We continue to review our range to ensure that it meets the needs of our customers and we look forward to expanding it even further over the coming months.”
Growing vegan range
Last month, Aldi welcomed four new vegan products to its stores including plant-based ‘chicken’ burgers, sausage rolls, no beef burgers, and ‘superfood’ burgers.
“The launch of our new vegan range is in response to our growing, ethically inspired customer base, looking for delicious alternatives to meat and another example of our ongoing commitment to cater for all diets, at everyday low prices,” Ashfield added.
