Affordable supermarket chain Aldi has expanded its own-label range ‘I Am Vegan’ with three new plant-based ready meals.

The retailer will debut its Red Pepper and Mango Curry, Smoky Jackfruit Chilli, and Yellow Thai Curry in the frozen section from September 8.

Priced at £1.99, the meat-free ready meals are certified by the Vegan Society and will be stocked in all UK stores – the Grocer reports.

Responding to demand

“The launch of I Am Vegan is in response to the growing popularity and appetite for vegan options amongst our customer base,” said Julie Ashfield, Managing Director of Buying at Aldi.

“We continue to review our range to ensure that it meets the needs of our customers and we look forward to expanding it even further over the coming months.”

Vegan range

Earlier this year, Aldi welcomed four new vegan products to its stores including plant-based ‘chicken’ burgers, sausage rolls, no beef burgers, and ‘superfood’ burgers.

“The launch of our new vegan range is in response to our growing, ethically inspired customer base, looking for delicious alternatives to meat and another example of our ongoing commitment to cater for all diets, at everyday low prices,” Ashfield added.
